External Pipeline Connecting SouthCity to mainline GAIL Network

GAIL Gas pipeline connectivity from mainline GAIL pipeline network to South City is complete

Gas is charged upto outside Gate 1 

Underground pipe within South City

Some of the Underground to Building Links setup in 2018 are pretty distant and will require digging of asphalt, this is requested to be reconsidered and if GAIL has any alternatives. C cluster has 2 uptake points, one near the C Cluster to Clubhouse road, and another from Gate 1 to the GAIL gas uptake of C cluster near the entry podium. Also, similarly the inlet to the B3 Bock the work planned in 2018 involved digging from the B3 corner up to the heavy cable electrical to B3. A rerouting was requested by us and GAIL has completed the feasibility of the alternate path suggested and will start work shortly.  The  GAIL pipeline leading from the club house to the blocks A, B, D, which was blocked due to mud deposits due to not closing the pipe end pipes in 2018, certain leaks were detected during the testing phase. The process of identifying the exact location took 2 weeks. This has now been replaced by a new stretch of line. 

All issues with the underground pipeline inside South City have been fixed, the pipes are filled with necesssary airpressure to monitor for leaks over 8 days. Any drop in pressure will be assessed during the safety audit planned on Monday

Pole Markers and Marking stones are ordered by GAIL Gas and should be in place by Wednesday. 

C-Cluster feeding points require digging through 3 sewer lines feeding into the C-Cluster are being relocated as the initially identified points near the C-cluster podium and CA2 roadside are being re-routed to a lower-risk area near the clubhouse side of the building. The feasibility of rerouting and design decisions are under GAIL Gas review. Plan & Approval expected coming week 

This plan is under approval by GAIL headoffice and approval is expected by Tuesday. The valve wall is being setup near the Club house side of the C3 block for all 3 blocks.as published on 25/Jan/26 below. The overall work here is expected to last till mid-Feb 2026. 

Once the safety audit is complete GAS will be charged into the underground lines. After which the splicing of the feeder pipes will be made to the buildings as per GAIL protocol and procedure which should be quick.

Building pipeline (vertical):

Building pipeline verification and ensuring end-points are ready for connectivity is in progress. Once finalised, the same will be flushed and tested. B4, B2 have the regulator points installed (installed in 2018) behind a tree, which the GAIL Gas team is exploring means to connect the underground pipeline. 

Work inside each apartment

This will resume, including meter fixing once the external pipeline activities listed above are complete. Expected from last week of December to February based on progress

 Please note that PNG will require a different sized nozzle to be fixed which the GAIL team will provide for standard Hobs. Therefore if you want to refix the LPG cylinder you will need to replace the original nozzle. So to keep the LPG Cylinder or close the LPG is up to the individual. It is recommended as a guidline to return the LPG connection / surrender it once you receive GAIL Gas. 

According to government regulations, a household cannot have both a PNG connection and an active LPG connection simultaneously. 

Roadblock near C Cluster leading to Blocks A, B, D - Club house junction

The area here is a junction which needs to be opened for flushing. Safe passage being worked on by GAIL. JLL is looped in.

Volunteer group listed above and infrastructure experts (Residents Owners) in South City are actively contributing. Any resident willing to contribute kindly email the address given above. 

Residents are requested to exercise and observe caution as the GAIL gas pits are being opened up. Especially 2 wheelers and senior citizens. We have requested GAIL Gas that the pits not required to be closed and cemented back.

Running Updates as informed by GAIL Gas:

• 25/Jan/2026:

The part of the test activity of the pipeline laid in 2018, one the RCA is that the end caps were not capped back then. Resulted in a finding that the GAIL gas pipe leakage has been identified. The damaged pipe has been removed and replaced with a new pipe.

The feeder entry to C-Block, also being proposed to bring the 3 pipes at the C-Podiium and C2-Clubhouse-CA2 road to reduce risk of exposure

  Objective of camp: The GAIL Gas marketing team officials are expected in the club house around 10am, to help with taking registrations to GAIL Gas and updates to Subscription due to flat ownership changes and payments related queries.

• 27/Dec/2025: 

As the current GAIL team identified the work done in 2018, a few areas need extensive work to hook up building to the main line, e.g some of the C blocks and the B Blocks, which may possibly require digging up the asphalt. A request has been raised with GAIL in working with JLL to kindly avoid this. The GAIL team is investigating and will provide an update shortly. 

• 16/Dec/2025: GATE1 requires to be dug pipeline work 

The areas marked in red on the photos below is being dug open to lay the GAIL GAS pipeline. 

There will be partial closure of the gate 1 road on 17th Dec, full closure on 18th Dec. The plan is to have partial closure during restoration work (concreting and curing  over 4 following days)

This currently has a concrete area as marked below. There will also be work being carried out near the junction of c2 road and the clubhouse road this week. 

• 15/Dec/2025: Digging initiated by GAIL Gas,  post review by the working group. This is being done by GAIL to flush and clean the pipeline from Gate 1 to B10 children's park

11/Dec/2025: GAIL Gas deploys electrical cable scanning tool deployed to ensure safe passage 

HT Cable locator check in progress by GAIL. GAIL has marked the cable passing location and also marked the place for digging the earth 

JLL is  in the process of issuing a letter to BESCOM for their information and take their consent before start of work.

Continuous followup on a daily basis is in progress

This has been raised with GAIL officials and they are looking into it. An update will be provided. Kindly fill the form mentioned above and choose "Issue -  BP Number allocated, but not in sheet", GAIL has assured that they will look into this matter

The project was initially launched by Pavithran working with information from his contacts that GAIL has launched the service in 2018. However after a few electrical issues the work was stopped in 2019, Covid being another dampner to the initiative.

Background:

Way back in 2018, Pavithran (Sugruha board member) had received information from his friend in MECON who was a consultant for GAIL Gas that GAIL is supplying piped natural gas to apartment complexes. This project was initiated with full force, and homes were fitted with meters etc. However, due to technical issues and COVID hitting us, this progress was halted.
